Things to See in North East of England

There are many towns and cities to visit when in north east England. The major cities are probably, Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesborough. Some would also consider Hartlepool to be a major city although there is little that is of interest to the regular tourist.

Newcastle is a diverse city with a bustling nightlife. The city of Gateshead shares a border and councils often compete over bids for new buildings and monuments. The most notable constructions of the last decade are the Sage Arts centre, Baltic flour mill and the Millenium bridge, all of which are situated on the quayside on the banks of the River Tyne.

South of Newcastle the town of Seaham can be found. Although relatively small compared to the neighbouring towns and cities Seaham is gradually becoming an established place on the map. It's seafront is home to bars and restaurants and Byron Place Shopping centre was recently opened to boost the towns profile.
